The P.G. and Research Department of Botany conducted the third of the Lecture series, GRANUM, on 27.02.2025. As part of National Science Day 2025, an invited lecture session on Green Evidence: An Insight to Forensic Botany was conducted by Dr. Thoiba Kottekkatu, Scientific Officer- Biology, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory,  Kerala Police Academy, Thrissur. The talk was intended to instill curiosity about Forensic Botany and its prospects as a job, to UG and PG Botany students of our department.

The session started at 11.00am with prayer by the students. Dr. Niranjana M.R., Head, Department of Botany delivered the welcome speech. The session was presided over by Dr. Vijoy P.S., Principal, Sree Krishna College. Dr. Sinisha AK, Asst. Professor, Department of Botany introduced the speaker, Dr. Thoiba Kottekkatu. The topic for the third lecture was focussed on Forensic Botany. The session was informative and well supported by different crime scene investigations and experiences in the powerpoint presentation. The resource person also emphasised on the importance of Botanical evidence in the crime scenes.

Dr. Thoiba encouraged the students to pursue their job in Forensic sciences also.  The one hour talk was followed by an interactive session with the students.The students actively involved in the interactive session with the resource person. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sumathi V., Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Sree Krishna College. Dr.Sinisha AK. was in charge of coordinating the technical session of Granum-3.
