It is a family of flowering trees that belongs to the order Ericales. Lecythidaceae is a family of flowering trees found primarily in tropical regions .Within Lecythidaceae, there are four subfamilies: Foetidioideae, Grias, Lecythidoideae, and Planchonioideae.
