Heritage Museum
Heritage is an essential part of the present we live in and the future we build. Our department boasts a small heritage museum which has also been one of the best practices of the department. It has been an integral part of the department since a decade and was renovated recently with the financial aid from College PTA.The theme of our museum is “Megaliths of Thrissur” .The museum showcase the different types of Megalithic monuments that are spread throughout the district. Megaliths are the huge laterite burial sites commemorating the existence of Iron Age in Kerala. The miniature forms of megalithic monuments like Kudakkallu, Thoppikkallu, Menhir, Dolmen, Rock cut Chamber ,Sarcophagus and Urn burials are made and exhibited here. Apart from these, replicas of megalithic tools, remains of Harappa Civilization and ancient Kerala coins along with a collection of numismatics, objects of terracotta, metal vessels, agricultural tools and many other objects that hold our cultural heritage can also be observed at the museum. The photo gallery inside the museum portrays historians, archaeologists, nearby religious centers and the megalithic sites in Thrissur district. It is open to students wherein they have the chance to immerse themselves in and explore a wealth of cultural heritage. It is a haven that sparks the interest in history and help the students to gain a broad understanding of our past and encourage them to assist the society with its preservation.
