Sreekrishna College, Guruvayur, is dedicated to fostering a robust research culture among its faculty and students. This initiative is designed to enhance scientific thinking and research capabilities in alignment with Article 51A(h) of the Constitution of India. The college is committed to identifying and promoting socially relevant research projects that aim to contribute positively to society and support national development. Additionally, Sreekrishna College is focused on nurturing the next generation of scientists in India.
As an affiliated institution of the University of Calicut, the college's research policy is in accordance with the policies, rules, and regulations established by both the University of Calicut and the University Grants Commission (UGC). These guidelines are routinely updated to reflect the latest standards set forth by the UGC and the University of Calicut. Sreekrishna College is home to two recognized research centers: the Department of Physics and the Department of Botany, both of which facilitate research endeavors culminating in the awarding of Ph.D. degrees. The college's Research Policy is managed by the Research Committee, ensuring effective oversight and implementation of research activities.
Code of Ethics for Research
- All students and faculty engaged in research at the College are expected to uphold high standards of integrity and honesty in all their work.
- The number of students assigned to a research guide must comply with the guidelines set by the University of Calicut.
- An attendance register is maintained for full-time research scholars. Leave or absence is permissible upon a written request from the research scholar, which must be recommended by the research supervisor.
- Research scholars must obtain permission from the Principal before attending or participating in any conference, seminar, or workshop.
- A full-time research scholar is prohibited from holding full-time employment in any other organization.
- Research center fees must be paid by the research scholar at the beginning of each semester. A penalty will be imposed for late payments.
- Research scholars are required to present their research progress to the research committee every six months to facilitate the preparation of the half-yearly progress report.
- A Pre-Ph.D. presentation must be made by the research scholar upon completion of their research and draft thesis.
- Each research scholar must publish a minimum of two research papers in a UGC-approved refereed journal before submitting their thesis for evaluation. Research papers published by research scholars and faculty of Sreekrishna College must include the College's name and address as their affiliation.
- One copy of the Ph.D. thesis must be submitted to both the College library and the respective Department.
