Dr.Nishanth T received PhD in Physics from Kannur University, in 2013. He was awarded, JRF& SRF and Post-doc Research Associateship of Indian Space Research Organisations (ISRO), Atmospheric Chemistry, Transport and Modelling (AT-CTM) of Geosphere Biosphere Programme. He completed PhD under the supervision of Dr. MK Satheesh Kumar and, during his research he has set up a trace gas observatory at Mangattuparamba and conducted in situ measurements over Kannur region.

His research is primarily focused on the chemistry and transport of surface ozone and its precursor gases in the Earth’s atmosphere by conducting ground based measurements, analysis of satellite observations, and modeling. One of the highlights of the work is the identification of organic species emitted during intense fireworks and its impact on night time ozone production. This work throws light into the unfold chemistry of trace gases in the lower atmosphere. He has contributed more than 30 research papers in various peer reviewed international journals. He also presented his results in many National and International conferences.

Dr. Nishanth received Post-doctoral offers from the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences,  University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and School of Atmospheric Science, Nanjing University China. He was a recipient of the Science Academies (INSA) Summer Research Fellowship in 2023. He is a recognised research supervisor of Calicut University and two scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral degree. He is a Chairman of Board of Examinations of MSc Physics (2024) and BSc Physics (2023, 2024) of Calicut University and member of Board of studies (Applied Sciences) of Nehru Group of Institutions (Autonomous). He is also a question paper setter of various Universities and Autonomous Colleges in South India.
