Fighting Mosquito-Borne Diseases: A Community Awareness Initiative

  • 01 Dec / 2020

On December 1, 2020, second-year BSc Biochemistry students conducted an awareness program titled "Mosquito-Borne Diseases and Source Reduction Practices" in Ariyannur locality. As part of this extension activity, the students visited 18 households to educate residents about mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. They provided essential information on symptoms, transmission, and prevention. Additionally, the students demonstrated source reduction practices, identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sites by removing stagnant water and waste materials. This hands-on initiative not only raised awareness but also empowered the community to adopt effective measures for mosquito control and disease prevention.
