The Hindi Department of Sree Krishna College, Ariyannur, established in 1964, has been committed to promoting the study and appreciation of the Hindi language and literature since its inception. The department initially functioned as a Common Course for Pre-Degree programmes, contributing significantly to the linguistic and cultural enrichment of students during the early years of the institution.The department was founded under the leadership of Dr. Madhava Warrier, the first faculty member, who assumed charge as the Head of the Department on 24 July 1964. His dedicated efforts laid a strong academic foundation for the department and played a crucial role in its steady development.
At present, under FYUGP system ,the department offers Ability Enhancemnt Courses ,Multy Disciplinary Courses and Value Added Courses for B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com porgrams, thereby serving a diverse student community across multiple disciplines. Through its academic engagement, the department strives to cultivate linguistic competence, cultural awareness, and an appreciation for Hindi literature among students.
Recognizing Hindi as the Official Language of India, the department actively undertakes a range of academic, literary, and cultural initiatives to promote its significance in the national context. Regular programmes such as seminars, literary competitions, language workshops, and observances of Hindi Diwas are organized to foster interest in the language and to encourage students to engage with the rich literary heritage of Hindi.Through its sustained academic activities and commitment to language promotion, the department continues to play a vital role in strengthening national integration, cultural exchange, and linguistic harmony within the academic community.
