Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur, started a three-year B.Sc Zoology Main Degree course in 1969. The Department of Zoology offers an up-to-date and pertinent graduation programme in Zoology with an emphasis on fundamentals as well as emerging areas of modern biology. During the last 45 years, the Department has made its identity in the frontier areas of Life Sciences, and now it has developed into a full-fledged centre of teaching in modern biology. In compliance with the vision and mission of the college and the present society's needs, the Department has moulded  itself  with  positive aspirations to cope   with  the  latest  advanced and  need-based  teaching  of subjects. 
The teaching programme in the department is interdisciplinary and the course covers the emerging areas in life sciences. These include core courses like Non chordate, Chordata, Biochemistry, Immunology, Evolution and Biodiversity, Genetics, Cell & Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, Sex education, Animal Physiology, Entomology etc. which are covered in B.Sc programme.
The department houses a library catering to the needs of the students. Special efforts are made to add the latest textbooks and scientific journals to the collection.
