Mentally challenged rehabilitation centre (Special Education School), Koorkkanpara- The school follows Individualized Education Programs (IEP), designed specifically for each child. These plans are tailored to the student's unique needs, abilities, and learning pace. For children with intellectual disabilities, personalized teaching methods help in overcoming learning challenges and fostering skill development. In addition to academics, the school provides therapeutic service such as: Speech therapy, Occupational therapy and Physical therapy. Helping children improve mobility and coordination, particularly those with physical impairments alongside intellectual disabilities. These therapies are integrated into their daily routines to ensure holistic development, helping children to interact with others and express themselves. This structured yet flexible curriculum ensures that each child is equipped with the tools they need for greater independence and integration into society. The combination of specialized education, therapeutic interventions, vocational training, and a nurturing environment provides these children with the tools they need to lead more independent, fulfill lives

 

 

AMHA (Association for Mentally Handicapped Adults) is a home to 60 individuals with mental challenges, including 30 residents in Karyattukara, Thrissur. They provide free education, food, accommodation, medical care, and other essential services of the patients or inmates. About 95% of the beneficiaries come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Among students, twelve are orphans. This centre provides transporting facility for day scholar students. Majority of them are diagnosed with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, including conditions like Down syndrome, microcephaly, cerebral palsy, autism, Marfan syndrome, and Fragile X syndrome. AMHA also provide vocational training to aid in their rehabilitation.

 

Haemophilia Society Kunnamkulam Chapter & Kannan Memorial Charitable Trust located in Akkikkavu, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur district. This is a national organization that works for the welfare of people with hemophilia. The chapter has been involved in several activities, like Opening a care center for hemophilia patients at Jubilee Mission Hospital, Thrissur and also provide the best treatment and management options available for haemophilia. Degree final year students (2023 pass out) completed their degree project relating to diagnosis and prognosis of Haemophilia A and B and submitted the report to the University.
