"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." –John Muir
Nature club of Sreekrishna college, Guruvayoor, as known by its name Bhoomika is a students’ club envisioned to inculcate in our youngsters, a deep sense of being responsible citizens of tomorrow to protect and conserve mother nature in all her glory. The lush green campus is a major attraction for these young minds and at Bhoomika we help them embrace themselves in mother natures’ abundance more eloquently. The club organises seminars, field visits, day celebrations, campus survey and various related activities to mould environmental awareness among the staff, students and interested stakeholders. Being in its juvenile years, the club is more oriented towards cataloguing the natural flora and fauna of the campus and also enhance the possibilities to preserve its biodiversity.
OBJECTIVES OF ‘BHOOMIKA’
· Sensitization of young minds to uphold the idea of biodiversity and its conservation
· Identify and catalogue the species diversity of the campus
· To observe ‘Go Green’ initiatives in the campus activities
· To perpetuate environment-friendly and sustainable practices amongst students and the communities they interact with.
