    Eligibility : Candidates who have passed (Eligible for higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Biology as a compulsory paper are eligible for admission

    Index Mark : Total marks obtained for Part III + the marks obtained for Biology or Botany.

    Tie Break : If there is a tie, priority must be given to the candidates who secure more marks in the main subject concerned. If there is a tie again, the marks of compulsory subsidiary subjects and then the marks obtained for the second subsidiary subject are to be considered. Even after there is a tie, the marks obtained in English, the second language, are considered, and at last general conditions are applied.

Research Programmes

Ph. D.

The Post Graduate Department of Botany, Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur was one among the pioneer aided college departments to be upgraded as a recognised research centre affiliated to the University of Calicut. It was the first aided college department in Thrissur region to gain this status. The department has been offering unparalleled contributions to various aspects of teaching and research in Plant science, since its inculcation. The official recognition as an approved research centre was obtained in 2011 which followed active research contributions mainly to Angiosperm systematics under the guidance of Dr. Udayan P.S. This has led to an inclusive study of the taxonomic aspects of various angiosperms groups, the sacred groves and their phytosociological significances. The department also functioned as an epicentre for the exploration and identification of both plant and fungal specimens by various academic enthusiasts. Till date the department has produced 4 Ph.Ds in the University of Calicut. In the yester years, the scope of research in the department has been expanded to other areas like, Phytochemistry, Pharmacognosy, Plant biotechnology, Tissue culture and Plant Physiology. The department is facilitated with tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology laboratories and is actively involved in collaborative research activities.
