It  is a family of flowering plants commonly known as the Malpighia family.Plants are typically trees or shrubs, but some species can be woody vines or herbaceous plants .The leaves are simple, opposite, and usually have stipules (small, leaf-like structures at the base of the petiole)The flowers are small, showy, and typically have five petals.
