Urticaceae : Monochlamydeae

The Urticaceae family, commonly known as the nettle family, is a group of flowering plants that includes about 60 genera and over 2,000 species.  Most members of the Urticaceae family are herbaceous, although some can be shrubby or climbing. Leaves are typically simple, alternate, and have serrated or toothed margins.Many members of the Urticaceae family have stinging hairs, which contain irritating chemicals like histamine and serotonin.
